In 2010 TRIOPTICS acquired Davidson Optronics, West Covina USA, a manufacturer of high precision optical test instruments used in testing and aligning of optical and mechanical components and assemblies.

Davidson Optronics’ customer base includes military, defense contractors, government and
university research laboratories, bio-med companies and semiconductor equipment manufacturers.

All of Davidson Optronics’ instruments and precision optical components are calibrated and certified to NIST traceable standards.

Product family
Davidson Optronics products supplement the TRIOPTICS product portfolio and provide optical test solutions for especially demanding measurement tasks requiring the highest accuracy.

 

Optoliner

  • Compact, calibrated optical signal generator
  • Efficient, reliable, consistent and accurate tool for testing, qualifying and calibrating imaging devices, including CCD, and CMOS and other technology based cameras and sensors
  • Modular systems consists of a light source, a test pattern projector and the light control and measurement instrument

Autocollimators

  • Compact size and small footprint due to folded optical design
  • Large aperture (2-3/8” and 5”) for taking measurements over longer distances or the simultaneous measurement of two parallel surfaces
  • Rugged design with laboratory level accuracy
  • Built-in adjustments (azimuth and elevation)
  • Manual and electronic versions available

Interferometers

  • Measure flatness of any polished planar surface with accuracy of 0.000001 inch
  • Three models can handle optical flats of up to 2.5”, 5” and 12” in diameter
  • Manual instruments with digital camera and sophisticated fringe analysis software upgrade option
  • Rugged cast iron construction eliminates the need for vibration isolation, in most cases

Alignment Telescopes

  • Establish a straight line of sight for alignment of optical systems
  • Align lenses, laser cavities, telescopes used in astronomy and assembly of semiconductor microlithography projectors
  • Verify components are perpendicular with built-in autocollimating feature

Precision Optics and Optical Components

  • Precision Optical Components are used as Master grade reference surfaces (flat or angular) for alignment, calibration or testing of optical components, surfaces or systems
  • Davidson Optronics specializes in medium to large size, high precision, high surface quality optics and optical components
  • In-house fabrication and coating capabilities(MgF2, Al/SiO, Al/ MgF2, titanium, chrome, silver and gold)
  • All components are individually tested using autocollimators, interferometers and master reference optics, and are certified to NIST traceable standards

Surface Quality Samples

  • Scratch and Dig Surface Quality Samples provide direct visual comparison standards for inspecting and assigning a numeric value to the surface quality of finished components in conformance with MIL-O-13830, MIL-C-48497 and ANSI/OEOSC OP21.002:2008
  • Components can be made from glass - lenses, prisms, mirrors, reticles, windows and wedges - metal, plastic or other materials
  • Surface quality samples are intended to be compared to evaluated surfaces by the unaided human eye under the illumination provided by an incandescent lamp
  • Partially aluminized scratch samples) allow characterization of highly reflective or metal surfaces
